Early admissions open on October 1! Make sure to have everything prepared by then so you can apply and secure a spot early!

The admission decisions are based on your academic record, leadership skills, a high level of commitment, and the potential for personal growth.

Requirements vary based on the degree you're applying to, your level of education completed, and the country you live in.

  • Transcripts. A minimum final grade of 65% or the equivalent is required in all university-preparatory courses reviewed.
  • Applicants may be considered for early admission based on their final grade 11 transcripts. A minimum admissions average of 80% is required for consideration.
  • proof of English language proficiency
    • As English is the primary language of instruction at Mount Allison, students must possess a mastery of English sufficient to communicate effectively, follow lectures, and write assignments and examinations in English.

      If asked, you must provide proof of one of the following:

        Successful completion of at least three years of academic instruction at a Canadian secondary institution, as recognized by Mount Allison.

      • Post-secondary studies in English

        Successful completion of at least 30 credit hours (or equivalent) at a post-secondary institution where English is the primary language of instruction, as recognized by Mount Allison.

      • If you meet Mount Allison's academic requirements, but don't meet our English proficiency requirements, you may be offered conditional admission.

        If you're offered conditional admission, you can enroll in one of Mount Allison's English pathway programs designed for students who need extra time and training to meet our English proficiency requirements, and who would like to benefit from additional transition time and academic preparation before full-time study.

        There are two program options to help you meet the requirements, depending on your level of English:

        • English Summer Pathway Program (June-August)
          This program is offered during the summer. It includes classes in English and academic skills plus cultural trips and activities.
        • English Academic Bridging Program (EAB) (September-May)
          This program is offered during the academic year. You'll be enrolled as a full-time Mount Allison student. You'll take three regular Mount Allison courses each term and two EAB courses, in English and academic skills.
        • Once you successfully complete one of Mount Allison's English language programs, you will get unconditional admission to Mount Allison (if you meet our academic requirements). No additional TOEFL or IELTS tests will be required.

Before You Apply

  1. Choose what to study

    On your application, you will need to indicate what degree you want to pursue at Mount Allison. Your options:

    You can also indicate what major you intend to pursue or you can indicate 'undecided' if you are unsure.

    Students do not need to officially declare a major until the end of their second year.

    In some programs, a January start may be possible for students who are unable to begin in September.

    Students intending to study Music, Fine Arts, or aviation must start in the fall term.

      • If you are offered early admission based on your final Grade 11 marks, make sure to send your Grade 12 mid-year transcripts once you have them to confirm your offer of admission and scholarships.

      • If you've been offered early admission based on your final Grade 11 marks: make sure to send your Grade 12 mid-year transcripts to confirm your offer of admission and scholarships.

  1. Prepare other requirements
  • A credit card to pay the $50 application fee (Visa or MasterCard)
  • Home-based mailing address including postal code
  • Parent/guardian information (optional) including e-mail address and home address if different than yours
  • Full high school name and complete address, and any post-secondary school information, if applicable

Application Process

Step 1: Create your MtA application account. Fill out the application form for admission and scholarships

Step 2: Once complete, submit your application and pay your $50 CAD application fee through your MtA application account.

Step 3: Submit your supporting documents

If you're in high school, transcripts are needed to determine if you've met our admission requirements. Submit the following through your MtA application account, depending on when you apply:

  • Grade 12 course list
  • Mid-year Grade 12 transcript required when available

πŸ“ƒ Final official transcript: once you've completed your academic year, official transcripts must be sent directly to Mount Allison from your high school by mail, fax, or e-mail.

Step 4: Accept your offer

Confirm your intent to attend Mount Allison and accept any awarded scholarships by submitting your registration deposit (non-refundable) by May 1.

  • $100 for Canadian citizens and permanent residents
  • $250 for international students

Once your deposit is received and processed, your deposit confirmation will be e-mailed to your @mta.ca e-mail account.
